Advertising Opportunities That Bring New Customers to your Business

Track record

Salt Spring was created in 1998 in the very early days of the internet, before most people had websites of their own. The intention was to fill a gap and showcase what Salt Spring Island had to offer it's visitors. By the winter of 1999/2000 it was the top-ranking Salt Spring site among major search engines and quickly became the darling of  human-powered web directories and site users. The site's popularity increased steadily and it now receives thousands of qualified visitors per week.

New owners

Over the years the website's design stayed largely the same – so it was time for an overhaul! Duncan and Emma-Louise Elsey bought Salt Spring from the original site owner and creator Helene Meurer at end of 2013 and relaunched in May 2014. The site has been reorganized and revamped for the 2014 season - with plans to improve the marketing of Salt Spring Island over the months - and years ahead. This will include using modern marketing techniques and social media to promote Salt Spring Island and its businesses. Read more here >>
Emma-Louise and Duncan understand websites: Emma-Louise has built a successful online business from scratch and Duncan builds websites for a living. Making the website attractive and user-friendly for visitors, and SEO (Search Engine Optimisation), are a priority in making Salt Spring more successful than ever.

The bottom line

This site is viewed by a high concentration of customers already interested in or planning to visit Salt Spring Island, Gulf Islands and Vancouver Island. Here, your ad will not be lost among many pages showing far-flung B.C. destinations. Rather, Salt Spring is viewed almost exclusively by those people who have already decided to visit the area. It doesn't get much better than this and there is an opportunity for every budget.

PLEASE NOTE: If you haven't already, submitting your Business Listing is the most cost-effective way to let visitors know what you have to offer (starting at $95).

Traffic Statistics

Salt Spring is promoted throughout major regional sites, search engines, directories and others. It benefits from exposure to several thousands of  visitors per month. In fact in the first quarter of 2014 Salt Spring had over 15,000 visits. As summer approaches and people begin to plan their trips, website visits increase – in April alone the website attracted 7,500 visits (stats from Google Analytics).
