Eyes on Nature: Exhibit | November 2nd - 30th | 9:00am to 5:00pm | ArtSpring Lobby: 100 Jackson Avenue | Science educator and naturalist, David Denning, has used microscopes, macro equipment, underwater cameras, and telephoto lenses to explore a wide range of living subjects, from the almost-magical animals that dart around in our oceans to the endearing birds and wildlife at the other end of our binoculars. Exploring colour, pattern and composition, these images are a testimonial to the incredible artistry and diversity of nature.Remembrance Day
  2. Fabulous Flea Market at Fulford Hall | Saturday 5th | 10:00am to 2:00pm | Fulford Community Hall: 2591 Fulford-Ganges Road | Find the perfect treasure at this popular bi-annual event! Peruse antiques, arts and more as well as nosh on delicious homemade goodies.
  3. Put your feet to the ground and explore the Channel Ridge Trail Network which boasts over 15 kilometers of trails. Enjoy viewpoints, forests and meadows - including the rare Garry Oak ecosystem which can be found on Salt Spring Island. Tread quietly and you might see some of the elusive creatures that call the area home including deer, owls, squirrels and birds.
  4. Salt Spring Island Remembrance Day Ceremony | Friday 11thParade: 10:30am & Ceremony: 10:45am | Centennial Park Cenotaph | Lest We Forget. Join veterans in Ganges to remember the sacrifices made by thousands of Canadians preceded by a parade mustering at the Post Office at 10:30am and followed by an open house at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 92.
  5. Viva Chorale! Concert – “In Remembrance” | Saturday 12th | 7:30am to 9:30pm | ArtSpring: 100 Jackson Avenue | $10 - $18 | Commemorating the 100th anniversary of the First World War, Salt Spring’s “Viva Chorale” will perform “In RemembranceFebruary 2014: Hot Chocolate at TJ Beans.  Directed by Caroni Young the choir, accompanied by Diana English (piano) and Laurent Boucher (percussion), will showcase diverse and beautiful music reflecting and honouring the lives of so many in times of war and separation. Charlie Beaver will read letters relating the experiences and thoughts of Canadian soldiers fighting for world freedom and peace.
  6. 4thd Annual Abattoir Birthday Bash | Saturday 12th | 6:00pm | Farmers' Institute: 351 Rainbow Road | $40 | Come out and support local food, vibrant community and sustainable farming. Dinner will be served with local lamb and turkey, produce, Black Sheep Bookswine, beer and cider, Arthur Black will be our MC, Duck Creak will provide the music, and of course there will be the famous birthday bash silent auction where you can bid on the services of local tradespeople, local produce, and many other things you have always wanted!
  7. Visit Salt Spring and escape the rain! Did you know during the rainy season Salt Spring Island gets half the precipitation as the mainland? A single puppeteer, Adam Francis Proulx, transforms one Wintercraft Christmas Market Salt Spring Islandpuppet into the twelve members of the jury. These characters must decide the Butcher’s fate in this courtroom drama, puppet show, comedy, and one-man show.
