SS Film Fest: The Woman Who Loves Giraffes | Wednesday 13th | 7:30pm to 8:30pm | Artspring: 100 Jackson Avenue | $10 | See the inspiring film that had sold-out Vancouver audiences on their feet applauding! The Woman Who Loves Giraffes is Dr. Anne Innis Dagg, “one of Canada’s greatest scientists, man or woman”, who was the first scientist in the world to study African animal behaviour in the wild - four years before Dr. Jane Goodall.
  6. The Vagina Monologues | Thursday 14th | 7:30pm to 9:30pm | Artspring: 100 Jackson Avenue | $15-$18 | The women of our community are uniting to perform a benefit production of Eve Ensler’s award-winning play, “The Vagina Monologues”.

ArtSpring Presents: Second City Hollywood Alumni | Saturday 16th | 7:30pm to 8:30pm | Artspring: 100 Jackson Avenue | $5-$35 | Salt Spring Island welcomes alumni from the world-famous Second City LA theatre to perform a comedy fundraiser for our furry friends in need. Enjoy a night of improv and sketch comedy to benefit Salt Spring Island’s SPCA.
  15. Have fun on Family Day! February 16th to 18th is a three day weekend for British Columbians – take the opportunity to explore Salt Spring Island! Take the kids to enjoy the Family Day Celebration at Mahon Hall (114 Rainbow Road) on February 18th from 1:00pm to 4:00pm for crafts, face painting, and entertainment by Annie Glover with her dynamic storytelling and unforgettable string figures! Also, be sure to go on a mini farm tour to spot brand new lambs, goats and other animals, enjoy the family friendly atmosphere of the Island or pick up a puzzle or game at West of the Moon toy store to play in front of a crackling fire with a hot drink!

ArtSpring Presents: Worlds of Puppets | Thursday 21st | 7:30pm to 9:30pm | Artspring: 100 Jackson Avenue | $5-$25 | A collection of original short stories told with the metaphorical grace of puppetry. The cast consists of intricate marionettes and rod puppets carved of wood, as well as unusual characters created simply with silk scarves and the hands and feet of the puppeteer.
  17. Salt Spring Folk Club presents: David Vest & Blue Moon Marquee | Monday 25th | 7:00pm | Fulford Hall: 2591 Fulford-Ganges Road | Enjoy a double bill featuring David Vest and Blue Moon Marquee. David Vest is an authentic, Southern-bred boogie-woogie piano player, blues shouter and world-class entertainer. Blue Moon Marquee is a Gypsy Blues band born of the wild rose country performing original compositions influenced by anything that swings, jumps or grooves.

AN OFF ISLAND SWEET TREAT: visit the BC Forest Discovery Centre in Duncan for the Bigleaf Maple Syrup Festival | Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd | 10:00am to 4:00pm | which showcases British Columbia's native Big Leaf Maple sap collecting and syrup making demonstrations, tastings, a maple market, maple goodies, competitions, entertainment and more!
